At FurFam, we believe that pets are family. Our founder, Mel, started this business out of her love for animals and her desire to ensure their well-being. We treat every pet as if they were our own, paying close attention to their specific needs and providing the best care possible. We prioritize developing healthy relationships with pets by paying attention to their body language and watching for consent during interactions. We are not here to push any pets into situations that make them uncomfortable.

Who is FurFam?
Meet Mel, the one-woman show behind FurFam. Mel has been caring for pets all her life, was a foster for a rescue for a number of years, and is guardian to three senior rescue cats as well as a very young and active Australian Shepherd. Mel is extremely engaged in training of her young dog, from backpacking to agility and obedience - they are happy to work together and have a strong relationship of trust.
Mel has a fenced-in yard with a park-adjacent home that is animal-friendly and conducive to providing private spaces for boarding to ensure all fur souls feel safe and secure in her home. Sitting within pet guardian's home is also something Mel is experienced in, taking special care to adhere to routines wherever possible for pets when their humans are away. She can also offer walks, drop-ins, excursions, and other options. Being in tune with the body language and communications from various species is priority for Mel in caring for your beloved pet(s). Mel is an active hiker and adventurer, and she is very familiar with thinking, working breeds as well as with those that are just as happy relaxing at home. Mel also has experience caring for senior pets, baby and adolescent pets, and pets with special needs.
